So Many Distractions...

Hello, my lovelies!

July is underway - Happy 4th to all my American friends - and the kids are home for the summer. I bet you know what that means, don’t you?

Yep. Distractions. Park playdates. Extra grocery shopping trips. Days at the beach. Requests for breakfast later than normal and wanting lunch, which I haven’t prepped at home since last September.

Don’t worry, I do feed my kids lunch, but I am usually the only one home at lunchtime during the week. This is taking some getting used to.

I have a lot of things I need to accomplish before Labour Day and the first day of school. Books to finish. Marketing campaigns to set in motion. Covers to design. Laundry. Chores. All the fun stuff.

The kids, however, have other plans. They want my attention, which I give to them as much as I can, but I still have work to do. They understand as much as they are able to, I get that. Hell, even I wish I could spend every moment they are home with them. I can’t though. <sigh>

Yesterday, though… yesterday was a very productive day for me. I got several pieces I’d been working on, both editing and writing, either finished or to the next signpost. Helped GG do some promotion for her sale on Smashwords and tidied my office.

Then, for dinner, I used my new-to-me Instant Pot for the first time. Almost successfully, too. Made butter chicken for my older kids and I, just plain chicken thighs for the little ones. They’re not as big on spicy food as we are. Served it all up with some Naan bread and cauli-rice. Here’s the recipe:

It was sooooo good that I used that many o’s in the word. Lol I don’t do that often in semi-formal writing.

All right. This has been a slice, but if my teen and I are going to Dollarama, we best get going now. Got some craft supplies to pick up, a new step ladder to get - to help me tuck my younger daughter into her loft bed at night - and fingers to fly over the keyboard.

Hope you have a good one, my darlings. We’ll talk to you soon.

Until next time, darlings,

ree
