Editing/Proofreading

Heather can't wait to seize that laptop and make your words POP.
A lifetime of reading led to a lifetime of editing. As well as pain and anguish whenever she read stories that screamed for editing first-aid. In fact, she got her first editing client by offering to edit one of her novelettes for free. Heather wove her magic and gave the story new life.
And jumpstarted her own career, which she has now brought to Wylde Thang Books. The phrase grammar police and proofreading angel have been thrown around, both of which thrill her no end.

Like Sensei Wu - IYKYK - there is nothing Heather enjoys more than helping writers reach their full potential. It is her mission in life to help you bring your best work forward.

To that end, our in-house editor offers up her editing and proofreading services to the greater writing community. Read through the services Heather has outlined below to see what you need her to do for you. Then sit back and let her weave her magic through your words.
You'll be glad you did.
Proofreading is the final stage of the editing process. To ensure your book is ready for publication, a proofreader will step in and double-check everything. They’ll make sure your book is free from spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and other issues waiting to spoil a reader’s enjoyment of your writing.

Copy editing is the fine-tuning of a book’s text, or the copy. This is the point in the publishing process where issues such as grammatical or punctuation errors, incorrect facts, anomalies, inconsistencies and glaring typos will be addressed. Copy editing ensures the language supports the writer’s intent, while maintaining their writing voice and creating the most readable version of their book.

Content editing is that point in the book publishing process where editors work with authors to resolve big picture issues that may arise in their manuscripts and ask, "Does it make sense?" These issues can include structure, form, plot, and character.

You know she means business when Heather pours herself a cuppa Joe in this bad boy.
Client Testimonials
Heather has been fantastic to work with. She's my biggest cheerleader, keeping me inspired to keep working. I'm thrilled to have her as an editor. She makes me sound like I know what I'm doing.

Wonderful job! This is exactly what I need. (Trying to hold back on the !)
It is a much better story for your efforts.
Thanks,
T.
The single lesson I learned from the only creative writing class I ever took was to get another set of eyes on my work. Since I already know what it's supposed to say, my eyes will skim over errors and see what they want to see instead of what's there. The other set of eyes I have chosen belong to Heather Holmes.
I don't know what to say other than she is fantastic. She is reliable with a quick turnaround so deadlines don't get pushed back (because of her - I'm another story). Her comments are insightful and encouraging and her ability to ferret out grammar errors borders on the preternatural. She is, in short, the image you would get in your head if you thought about an editor. (as long as it's a good one).
You owe it to yourself, and to your readers, to work with Heather. You won't be disappointed.
